Creation & Work

"On the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day He rested fromm all His work.  And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it He rested from all the work of creating that He had done.  This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created."  Genesis 2:2-4

When God created the heavens and the earth it was a perfect place.  But since then, sin and death and sickness has entered it.  When we think of work, today, we often think of drudgery.  But that was not God's plan. Creation was His work; and we were placed here to care for His creation and to compliment His creation.

What if we viewed our own work as creation?  Rather than going to work all week, what if we went about creating?  What have you created in the last seven days?  Has creating been your work or destruction?  Do we put our hand to the plow of making this a better place to live?  Or do we take to the task of leaving a path of undone, overturned chaos?

It is January 2010.  How do you want to enter this decade?  Do you want to create something good?  Then look to the Lord of creation.  He will show you the way.

Lord of all creation, let us be Your servants in this new decade.  Let us be ones who create a better world.  Show us how we can partner with You to accomplish Your will.  Amen.
