"Meanwhile, the sky grew black with clouds, the wind rose, a heavy rain came on and Ahab rode off to Jezreel. The power of the LORD came upon Elijah and, tucking his cloak into his belt, he ran ahead of Ahab all the way to Jezreel." 1 Kings 18:45-46
Elijah had waited more than three years for God to send the rain. It was a sign the Lord had given to him. Now, the rain was coming and the power of God came upon Elijah. So much power that he ran all the way to Jezreel overtaking the chariot along the way.
It must have been an incredible amount of power. Elijah must have felt compelled to run. I wonder if it came from waiting so long. Sometimes we wait so long for God to answer. When the Word of God is finally fulfilled in our lives, we can become empowered just as Elijah.
Are you weary of waiting for God to answer? Stay strong; when He answers you will be filled with His power to do whatever He asks!
