I'm Too Old!

"Now Joshua was old and advanced in years; and the Lord said to him, 'You are old and advanced in years, and very much of the land still remains to be possessed'". Joshua 13:1

I wonder what Joshua was thinking when God told him he was old! We all mumble to ourselves from time to time about our age. But it must shake you to the core when the Lord says it out loud.
But God was simply stating the obvious. He is very aware of where we are in life. He sees the gray hairs and hears our bones creek in the morning. God knows that we can no longer run the way we used to and that it takes us a little while to get up from off of the floor.
Yet, God is not detered by our age. He may have been stating the obvious to Joshua, but God followed it up with a task to do. God was saying, "Joshua, I already know your age, so don't be giving me it as an excuse because there is work to be done". I think we often use our age and other circumstances to give God excuses of why we cannot do this or that.
God has a job for you to do! As long as there is breath in your lungs, God has a task that only you can complete. What is God asking from you? Is there land that still needs to be conquered? Are you try to tell God you are too old? Too young? Too whatever? Take up your mantle and follow the Lord. You will never regret heeding His call.
Lord, what is it you have for us to do? We want to be obedient and we do not want our age to hinder your call. Help us to hear from you today. Give us strength to do your work. Amen
